Biography
A native of Kentucky, Robert lives and works in Norwalk, CT. Buddhism and other Eastern wisdom traditions greatly influence his life and work. In an age of machine-generated images, he prefers to create his drawings by hand.
Practice
Robert Lansden's work centers on drawing as a cumulative act—one in which geometry, repetition, and time function not as stylistic devices but as structuring principles. His drawings are built through incremental processes that privilege duration over immediacy, asking viewers to slow their looking and recalibrate perception. Meaning emerges gradually, through density, rhythm, and subtle variation.
